Upcoming Flash Components Line – FancyShapes Idea Is On The Way

I’m really glad to announce the upcoming Flash Components from FlashDaWeb!

The idea is to create a bunch of free Flash Components implementing the different fancy geometric shapes.

The name for this components family will be FancyShapes.

They are planned to be deployed as ActionScript 3.0, Flash CS 3 components. Probably later we’ll add AS2 version too, but yet plan only AS3 versions to be here.

Here is the list of shapes we plan to implement:

  • Fancy Star Flash Component
  • Fancy Spirograph Flash Component
  • Fancy Spiral Flash Component

Hope much more will be added later, but now look forward to have those controls ready to be published.

Let us know if you have any other ideas of fancy geometric shapes, which will be interesting to have as a separate flash component.

Also, what component would you like to appear first? AS3 or AS2? It’s really interesting to know what is currently demanded more. Flash CS3 or Flash 8?

Cheers,

Paul

AIR is getting popularity and Adobe releases AIR beta2

It’s not a secret that good things are always accepted fast by internet community. AIR being at a stage of Beta 2 (which has been released on October 1st by Adobe) it is already used for building a great number of software by leading companies all over the world.

AOL has released their “AOL Top 100 Videos” widget, which allows their users to see the hottest 100 music videos available at AOL! Pretty cute interface and nice functionality. Well done AOL!

On the other side of market, eBay, leading shopping and auctioning company, releases a desktop version of eBay . What a great thing! Now you may do all the web stuff in a single application, which is, of course, supplied with quite a user-friendly interface and does all its functions just right. Already has won a guitar effect processor using this tool. My compliments to eBay team!

Entertaining companies also haven’t left the AIR technology unnoticed, Nickelodeon has brought their www.nick.com to kids’ desktops using Adobe’s product. What a shame I’m not a kid :)

Adobe has listed a number of their well-known customers but I found the above three to be the best use of former Apollo technology.

Such news should inspire more developers to gain more skills to build RIA-application and invite more investors with new ideas to be easily ported to both web and desktop.

Viva AIR! Viva Adobe!

Some impressions about Flex Builder 3 Beta 1 and AIR

Hello everyone,

I just want to share some impressions about the topic.

First of all, I’m very pleased that such a technology as AIR has been released to public, it opens a wide scope for new projects and ideas. So, thanks Adobe for Apollo and AIR.

What’s annoying about Beta 1, that’s the message “process terminated without establishing connection to debugger. What a real problem it was for me for the first week I tried Flex Builder 3. I googled for the reason really badly, and found… – nothing. I was looking for a wrong code or wrong settings somewhere inside the project, but it turns out to be just a bug of Flex Builder. Sometimes quiting the IDE didn’t help, but after rebooting everything works fine again with exactly the same code.

Meanwhile, that’s the only bad thing about this development environment. Working on. Hopefully I’ll get something built with AIR soon and ready for everyone to try.

Cheers,
